Bread is a staple food all around the world and for good reason. It’s made of accessible ingredients such as flour and sugar and it’s a simple, good food that’s easy to like.

Although most types of bread don’t have a complex recipe, it remains a delicious favorite for many. 

Moreover, its versatility makes it the perfect complement to other kinds of food. You can eat it for breakfast or as a delightful appetizer or even as a delicious dessert! It has unlimited varieties and you can pretty much customize your recipe how you see fit.

If you want some ideas on what to do to your bread, below is a list of ideas you can make now:

Easy French Toast

Ingredients:

4 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 tbsp sugar

Pinch of salt

4 slices of bread

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp oil

Honey or maple syrup, to serve

Instructions:

  • In a shallow pan or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla essence as well as the sugar and salt.
  • Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture and cover both sides well.
  • Heat 1/2 tbsp butter and 1/2 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Fry the bread slices until golden brown, which is about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  • Drizzle some maple syrup or honey and serve warm

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Another simple recipe you can make with bread is the classic grilled cheese sandwich. Both adults and kids love this because who doesn’t like cheese, right? Best of all, it’s easy to make so you can make it quickly if ever you want a simple snack to eat. 

If you have a grill or sandwich maker, preheat it to its maximum temperature. And while that’s heating up, start making your sandwich. Just add a cheese slice to a piece of the loaf and then sprinkle some salt and pepper to taste and then cover with another bread slice.

If you’re cooking on a grill, grease a baking tray with oil or butter first and then put your bread on it. Coat the top of your sandwich with melted butter and keep the tray on the grill for about 5 minutes. 

No need for the tray pan if you have a sandwich maker. Just grease it directly with butter and put your sandwich in it. Once your sandwich has turned golden brown, remove it from the grill or sandwich maker.

You can then serve it with a condiment of your choice such as ketchup, mayo, or mustard. 

Chocolate bread pudding

Dessert is a must after meals for many people and one common favorite is chocolate pudding.

To make this delicious recipe, cut about 8 slices of bread into small pieces. In a bowl, beat 6 eggs and add a teaspoon of vanilla flavor or essence. Mix and keep aside.

Then, take a pan and heat around 600m of milk in it. Add 500g of cream, 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, and about 8 tablespoons of sugar. Once all of that’s mixed in, add the beaten eggs as well as the bread pieces you just sliced. 

Once cooked, grease any mold of your choosing and pour the mixture into it. Cover with foil and then keep in the cooker. Let cook for roughly 20 minutes and then cool so the pudding settles. Make sure not to let the steam out though. 

Once the pudding has settled in the mold, remove the foil and put the pudding in the freezer for about 30 minutes or so before serving.

Clubhouse sandwich

To make a clubhouse sandwich, toast an even pair of sliced bread (the toasted sliced bread should be used for the top and bottom parts). For the first stack, spread some mayo and then add cooked ham as well as a slice of cheese before adding a slice of bread on top. 

After adding the sliced bread, spread a tablespoon of mayo on it and then add the lettuce, cooked bacon, and sliced tomatoes before adding the last loaf slice on top.

Hold the whole sandwich and then cut diagonally. Stick a toothpick in the middle of each of the cut parts so it holds everything together. 

Crunchy croutons

Croutons are a type of bread that you usually see mixed in salads or as toppings on soups. It’s pretty easy to make. 

To make these crunchy croutons, slice up about 4 slices of white bread into squares. Sprinkle some salt and pepper as well as about 1/4 tsp of crushed garlic (optional) over the sliced pieces and mix well. 

Then, heat a pan over medium flame. Add a half cup of extra virgin olive oil to the pan and once hot, add the sliced bread pieces as well. Deep fry them until golden brown and then remove. Let your croutons drip on a rack or paper towel to remove excess oil.

Eat it on its own or pair it with your favorite soup or salad!

Bread pizza

Everyone loves pizza but not everyone knows how (or has the time) to make the dough or has frozen pizza dough available.

One good alternative? Bread! It’s delicious, quick, and easily customizable with your preferred ingredients. 

All you have to do is spread pizza or tomato sauce on bread slices. Add any of the following as your toppings: sliced onions, mushrooms, pineapple chunks, bell pepper, ham, bacon, or pepperoni. Then grate cheese on top and broil in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Garlic bread

Garlic bread is a wonderful side to pasta and soup dishes. It’s quick and easy to make so you can whip it up whenever you feel like it. 

Just slice a whole bread into an inch each. Spread melted butter on every slice then adds grated parmesan (optional) and finely chopped garlic on top. Bake in a preheated oven (375°F) for about 10 to 15 minutes and then top with parsley flakes before serving!
